So You've Had a Bad Day?

Recently I’ve had a spate of people applying for my programs booking calls or getting in touch and then either hanging up or being rude after my opening greeting.
 
This has always happened but I’ve noticed more this month. 
 
I wonder why?
 
Well it could be that I need to work on my greeting…ha!
 
Look I’ve got a pretty thick skin with these things, if you run a service based business and you make calls to people who don’t know you occasionally you get people on a bad day.
 
I definitely think that the lockdown took it’s toll.  The first one had a definite end in sight… the we’re all in this to conquer COVID thing going on.
 
Deep into our third national lockdown, and 1 year of instability and kids still not at school… plus pubs, gyms, theatres, social life etc on hold for at least the next 3 months ‘normal’ is seeming like a distant memory.  
 
People are starting to lose focus and direction.
 
My observation is that fitness won’t solve that, what we do at Hounds of Health is not mental health… we can’t make COVID go away or act as a substitute for our old ways.
 
But last night I did a FB live for my group discussing mental health and lockdown stresses and it was really well attended, loads of contributions and interactions.  I made me think that what we have is quite special.  We have a group of people who train together on a weekly basis, separated by Zoom - yes, but held together with a common goal: self-betterment. 
 
We can’t control the world and the external environment.  That’s Superman style fantasy… but we can create freedom from within, take action by investing in our self development.
 
As a friend said to me recently IMPERFECT ACTION is far superior to PERFECT INACTION.
 
Most people are waiting for someone else to say ‘you can now get on with your life’. Do I have faith that once the lockdown is lifted I’ll have a mile long waiting list for our programs. nope....  I think there’ll still be an excuse for why this is not the right time.
 
I agree it is not the right time, in fact it never is… pre COVID I used to get reasons like birthdays, holidays, work projects, waiting for gym memberships to expire… etc.
 
That’s pretty pessimistic I hear you say… actually no… my niche is those who want to take action.  It will be smaller than PureGyms demographic… but those people who work with me and my team will be a select few who realise that they are in the driving seat. 
 
Being surrounded by those kinds of people means you are in very good company and you’ll rise to the challenge.
 
The message?
 
… I’m gonna be able to take all the rude calls and consultation no shows because when I find a client to work with they are pretty special.
